Westmont Career Mentor Program Registration

We are so pleased that you’re interested in participating in the Westmont Career Mentoring Program, designed to connect students with professionals who will encourage, coach, and guide mentees through the program curriculum while sharing their own career journeys and wisdom along the way. Our hope is that these mentoring relationships will help students grow in confidence, expand their professional networks, and feel better prepared to discern and pursue next steps after graduation.

By registering here, you are committing to meet with your mentee at least six times, either virtually or in person, between January and April. Mentor-mentee matches will be communicated in December, and mentees will be encouraged to initiate the first connection.

In past years, we have received more mentor registrations than student applications, which means we may not be able to provide a match for every mentor who volunteers. Regardless, we are deeply grateful for your willingness to invest in and encourage Westmont students through this program.

Through conversations with your mentor and engagement with the program curriculum, our hope is that you will grow in confidence, expand your professional network, and gain wisdom and perspective as you discern and pursue next steps after graduation.

By registering here, you are committing to actively participate in the program between January and April, including meeting with your mentor at least six times, either virtually or in person. Mentor matches will be communicated in December, and students will be responsible for initiating the first connection with their mentor.

Because mentor participation is limited and matching is a thoughtful process, we ask that students apply only if they are prepared to engage consistently throughout the semester. We are excited about the opportunity to come alongside you as you prepare for what comes next.

Westmont College Career Mentoring Program: Mentor Agreement Form

As a mentor in the Westmont Career Mentoring Program, you play a vital role in supporting and encouraging your mentee's personal, academic, and professional growth. The student you will be matched with are in good academic standing. By signing this agreement, you affirm your commitment to the responsibilities and values of this mentoring relationship.

As a mentor, I agree to:

  1. Westmont’s Policies & Procedures

  2. Commitment & Consistency
    • Meet with my mentee at least six times throughout the duration of the program.
    • Communicate clearly about scheduling, being punctual and reliable.
  3. Encouragement & Support
    • Create a safe and positive environment that promotes openness and trust.
    • Encourage my mentee’s growth, offering guidance without judgment.
  4. Active Listening & Respect
    • Listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and respect the mentee’s perspectives, experiences, and goals.
    • Maintain healthy boundaries and a professional, compassionate relationship.
  5. Confidentiality
    • Keep our conversations private unless there is concern for safety or well-being, in which case I will follow appropriate reporting guidelines.
  6. Feedback & Growth
    • Provide honest, constructive feedback when appropriate.
    • Be open to feedback from program staff
  7. Faith
    • Reflect Westmont’s mission as an undergraduate, residential, Christian, liberal arts community serving God’s kingdom by cultivating thoughtful scholars, grateful servants and faithful leaders for global engagement with the academy, church and world.
    • Reflect Christ’s love through my actions and words, offering encouragement rooted in grace and truth (Colossians 3:12-14).

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS AGREEMENT


Westmont College Career Mentoring Program: Student Agreement Form

Your participation in the Westmont College Career Mentoring Program is an opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with a mentor who wants to support your success. This agreement outlines your role in that relationship. Keep in mind all of our mentors are volunteers that we provide basic training to and who are expected to follow the policies and procedures of Westmont College.

As a student mentee, I agree to:

  1. Be Committed
    • Attend scheduled mentoring meetings and communicate promptly if I need to reschedule.
    • Participate in the program for its full duration.
  2. Be Respectful
    • Value my mentor’s time and investment by being present, attentive, and respectful.
    • Maintain open, honest, and kind communication.
  3. Engage Fully
    • Come to meetings with questions, goals, or topics to discuss.
    • Be open to receiving guidance, support, and constructive feedback.
  4. Keep it Confidential
    • Respect the privacy of conversations unless something needs to be reported for safety.
  5. Grow Personally and Academically
    • Use this opportunity to reflect on my goals, develop healthy habits, and ask for help when needed.
    • Seek to grow in character, maturity, and purpose.
  6. Faith
    • Be open to encouragement that reflects the values of faith, grace, and growth (Proverbs 27:17 – "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another").
